Yes, for the vast majority of extended health benefit plans. Of note, I do not direct bill at this time.
Because I hold dual professional credentials, you have multiple pathways for reimbursement:
Certified Nurse Psychotherapist Coverage: Covered under plans that recognize Registered Nurses (RN) registered with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA) or Certified Nurse Psychotherapists (CNP).
Psychotherapy & Counselling Coverage: Covered under plans that recognize Canadian Certified Counsellors (CCC) through the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association.
Please double-check with your specific insurance provider prior to our first full session to confirm whether your plan covers RNs, CNPs, or CCCs.

A Certified Nurse Psychotherapist is a Registered Nurse who has undergone advanced, specialized graduate-level training to provide psychotherapy. This designation offers a distinct advantage: we treat your mental health through a holistic medical and psychological lens, recognizing that your emotional well-being is deeply connected to your physical body, biological systems, and overall lifestyle.

Every great book needs a brief synopsis before you commit to the full story. Think of this initial consultation as a casual, pressure-free way for us to flip open the cover and see if we are a good fit to work together.
Here is exactly what will happen during our 15 minutes:
A Brief Introduction: We will introduce ourselves, and I will share a tiny bit about my approach as a Nurse Psychotherapist and Canadian Certified Counsellor.
Your Chapter Summary: You will have the space to share a brief, high-level summary of what brings you to therapy right now and what goals you hope to author for your future. You do not need to dive into deep or painful details during this call.
The Logistical Outline: I will briefly touch upon how our sessions work, scheduling, and how your insurance might cover our time together (whether through my RN or CCC designations).
Q&A: You can ask me any lingering questions you have about the therapeutic process, my clinical background, or how I work.
How to prepare: You don't need to prepare anything at all. Just find a quiet, private space where you feel safe to talk.
By the end of the 15 minutes, we will decide together if my practice is the right fit for you. If it is, we can book your initial 50-minute assessment to officially begin. If it isn't, I will happily provide you with trusted referrals to other professionals in the Calgary community who might better suit your specific needs.

I ask for at least 24 hours' notice if you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment. Cancellations made with less than 24 hours' notice, as well as missed appointments, are subject to a $100 fee. I understand that unexpected circumstances arise, so please reach out if something affects your ability to attend.

Your privacy is important, and what you share in therapy is generally confidential. There are legal and professional exceptions, which I will explain as part of the informed consent process before we begin. These may include certain situations involving serious safety concerns, reporting obligations, or a valid legal requirement to disclose information. I'll make space for you to ask questions, so you understand how your information is handled.
